Bachelor of Education — 2-Year Professional Degree Program
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is a 2-year professional degree program approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). It is the minimum qualification required to teach at the secondary (Classes 6–10) and senior secondary (Classes 11–12) level in government and private schools across India.
At Sri Shravan Kumar College, the B.Ed program is structured across 4 semesters, combining foundational theoretical courses with pedagogical practise, observation visits, and a comprehensive school internship. Students choose two School Subjects for Pedagogy based on their undergraduate specialisation.
Upon successful completion and passing the state/national Teacher Eligibility Tests (TET/CTET/STET), B.Ed graduates become eligible for government teacher positions as TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) in all states of India.
